Last Call for Section 179 Deductions

Time is running out for all small businesses, healthcare practices and manufacturing firms to save money this year. As you may have heard from your tax consultant, the Section 179 deduction for tax year 2018 has nearly doubled over last year and is now an impressive $1 million. This deduction is good on new and used qualifying equipment, as well as off-the-shelf software. To take the deduction for this tax year, the equipment must be financed or purchased and put into service between January 1, 2018 and the end of the day on December 31, 2018. If you have never taken advantage of this deduction before, here are the basic facts. As outlined on section179.org, Section 179 of the IRS tax code allows businesses to deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment and/or software purchased or financed during the tax year. That means that if you buy (or lease) a piece of qualifying equipment, you can deduct the FULL PURCHASE PRICE from your gross income. Note: we are not tax professionals and this is not tax advice. Be sure to consult your own tax/accounting team. When you are ready to act, call us at 281-403-9561 or send us an email.
